It’s an exciting month of August for caffeine-lovers and brewmasters in the metropolis as one of the biggest coffee events of the year is all set to give coffee afficionados a perfect complement to the streak cuddle weather this month.

Breville Philippines, known for its line of products that unlock endless food and drink possibilities in the kitchen, has started brewing the 2023 Coffee Festival at the SM Makati’s second-floor activity area from August 1 to 15. The event has been an exciting mix of special workshops, competitions, and product launches so far that stirred up coffee-loving heart beat faster than any good cup of joe can, which on the premium lifestyle home brand can give.

The event is a deep dive into the coffee culture and educate people on how they can create their brew regardless of their experience. Last August 6, a number coffee lovers along with mall shoppers were able to join the ‘Espresso 101: Level Up Your Coffee Game’ workshop where they learn about the four keys formula of making your brew at home and the essentials for your coffee home set-up with Jose Margo Flores. He was joined by top Pinay barista Vanessa Caceres at the ‘Brewing Creativity: Latte Art 101’ session where attendees discovered the basics of doing latte art designs.

The Coffee Festival 2023 will touch on the other applications of coffee, too. On August 12, Chef Ave Bayle will hold a special workshop on coffee and dessert pairing, featuring three exclusive recipes that anyone can do in their kitchens. Finally, coffee pro Dave Dource will be headlining the ‘Introduction to Specialty Coffee’ workshop on the same day where he will cover the history of coffee down to the basics of brewing espresso.

Another highlight of the event will be ‘The Coffee Wars’ competition which will bring together coffee enthusiasts who will battle by creating their original espresso-based coffee drink. The twist? They have to work on their brew using random ingredients like herbs and spices and fruits. Exciting, indeed!

The physical events are also complemented by a special live-streaming event for those who prefer to stay at home. The live event will be all about ‘Coffee 101: Brewing Your Coffee at Home,’ and will touch base on the basics of coffee from beans selection, basic recipes, to having the best equipment to match your needs. Breville Product expert Dave Dource and coffee enthusiast Marie Field-Faith will be hosting the live event.
