Doing grocery shopping is made more convenient with the innovation that local e-payment solution GCash and Puregold Price Club Inc. offer to their loyal customers.

Gone are the days that GCash users need to fill-out service forms and present government-issued ID at Puregold to cash-in. All they have to do is use Gcash barcode to cash-in at any of the 367 Puregold branches nationwide.

The good news was announced during the event organized by Mynt (Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc.) at the Globe Tower today, attended by no less than Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu and Puregold President Ferdinand Vincent Co.

Last July, GCash and Puregold introduced the first barcode-based mobile payments solution in the Philippines. With GCash Scan to Pay (STP) via Barcode, customers of Puregold are able to pay their groceries using a barcode generated in the GCash application.

It should also be noted that Puregold is the first-ever national supermarket chain to accept mobile payments via GCash. The technology brought faster transactions and no need to input the amount due for payment since it will deducted from the GCash user’s account automatically.

With yet another milestone of GCash, currently with 20 million users and over 75,000 partner merchants across the Philippines, the business industry can only expect more useful and convenient innovations for years to come.
