The corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects of Wong Chu King Foundation (WCKF), the social action arm of Mighty Corporation, will brings good news to low-income farmers. This was disclosed by Bishop Rodolfo Beltran of San Fernando City who have witnessed the effort of the company help communities in need.
Beltran is pleased with WCKF’s commitment in prioritizing apostolic work and Catholic education in its CSR programs. The Bulacan-based cigarette manufacturer has sponsored the education of four seminarians through the fund that it allotted for the education of poor students in Lagawe, Bontoc.
He said that the parents of the students that WCKF is supporting are low-income farmers producing only for local consumption. Beltran emphasized such program delivers positive impact to the farmers who dreams of giving their children an opportunity to have a better career in the future.
Auxiliary Bishop Ricardo Baccay of Tuguegarao City also commended WCKF and has high hopes that the foundation will continue with their worthy cause. His suggestion, which he foresees can give a long-term benefit and the best form of help to students, is putting up libraries in different schools
The foundation, established by Mighty Corp. in 1990 aims to perpetuate the memory of Wong Chu King, the family patriarch, a philanthropist known for his generosity to the poor. The foundation’s thrust includes scholarship programs and raising funds for charitable causes.
Aside from the educational program, Beltran also mentioned that Mighty Corp. has allotted donation for various church projects WCKF renovated the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Piat Church in Piat, Cagayan in 2012 and the Diocesan Shrine of Immaculate Conception in Naic, Cavite last year.
