And when you turn on the radio, you know what people wants to hear these days: love songs— classic or new, mushy or joyful. Whatever as long there’s L-O-V-E in the lyrics
If you’ve been watching MTVs via Youtube or boobtube lately, you might have seen one great video from two Filipino artists who are considered multi-platinum success in Asia—Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart SABRINA and Asiansation Christian Bautista. The two great talents recorded a duet together via the song “Terrified.” This single, originally by Katharine McPhee and Zachary Levi, is included in Sabrina’s latest album “I Love Acoustic 5”. Its music video directed by Mark Esteban of Pixeleyes Multimedia is moving up the charts of music channel MYX.
“I had so much fun shooting the video and it was so nice to get to know Christian more. It was truly an honor that he agreed to this duet with me which is our treat not just for our Filipino but our Asian fans as well. We have been getting requests for a long time for this and we’re glad it finally happened,” Sabrina said.
“I Love Acoustic 5” debuted at #1 on Astroplus and #2 on Odyssey album charts. Aside from the Philippines, it is also released in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Digitally, it is available on iTunes where the album is currently on the charts of iTunes Thailand and Indonesia. “I Love Acoustic 5” includes hit songs interpreted by Sabrina in her signature acoustic style which enthralled Asian listeners. Songs like: “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (originally by Taylor Swift), “Call Me Maybe” (Carly Rae Jepsen), “Payphone” (Maroon 5), “What Makes You Beautiful” (One Direction), “Starships” (Nicki Minaj), “Somebody That I Used To Know” (Gotye), “Part of Me” (Katy Perry), “One Thing” (One Direction), “Glad You Came” (The Wanted), “I Won’t Give Up” (Jason Mraz), “We Found Love” (Rihanna), “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” (Kelly Clarkson), “A Thousand Years” (Christina Perri), “Domino” (Jessie J) and “If I Die Young” (The Band Perry).
Sabrina also collaborated with famous Thai saxophonist Koh Mr. Saxman for the single “Could It Be”- a popular Indonesian song originally recorded by Indonesian pop star Raisa. The single was translated into English to be included in Sabrina’s album as requested by her Indonesian fans.
For the first time in any “I Love Acoustic” album and for the second time in any of her albums, an original song is included, “Oh Boy” written by Sabrina herself. This is her third song recorded and released in an album, the first two being “One True Love” and “Over For Now But Not Forever” from her “Acoustic Love Notes” album.”
With this development, Sabrina is psyched up to write more original songs for her future albums.
“That’s definitely something I’m exploring right now…creating songs from my own experiences and thoughts, and I’ll certainly share ‘em in my future albums,” Sabrina said.
Sabrina was named as I-Gateway Mobile Philippines Inc.’s “Most Downloaded Artist” at the 2012 Awit Awards held at the Glorietta Activity Center. Last December, she received a Special Citation for International Achievement for achieving Gold and Platinum in Southeast Asia for her “I Love Acoustic” albums at the ASAP Platinum Circle Awards by hit ABS-CBN variety show ASAP.
