It’s official!
The Philippine Coffee Board, Inc. (PCBI) has announced that Mr. Nishant Gurjer, owner of Kaapi Royale and Sethuraman Estate in Chikmagalur, India, will be among the distinguished speakers at the 1st Philippine Coffee Sustainability Congress at the Makati Sports Club, Makati City on October 23, 2025 (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM).
Mr. Gurjer’s family inherited their land over 200 years ago and he has since built Kaapi Royale
into a renowned producer of some of the world’s finest specialty Robustas. His work at
Sethuraman Estate is globally recognized for applying a “do no harm” philosophy, integrating
biodiversity and soil health into every aspect of production. Today, Kaapi Royale stands as a
model for how Robusta can drive sustainability, climate resilience, and economic empowerment
for farmers.

At the Congress, he will speak on “Robusta and Its Role in Coffee Sustainability,” offering a rare
opportunity for Philippine stakeholders to hear firsthand from one of the world’s foremost voices
in regenerative Robusta production. His insights will be especially relevant as the Philippines,
where Robusta forms the bulk of national production, seeks new strategies to strengthen its
place in the global coffee market.
The 1st Philippine Coffee Sustainability Congress will gather local and international experts,
government officials, and private sector leaders to discuss critical topics, including:
● Global trends shaping the coffee industry
● Robusta’s rising role and value reassessment
● Government and private sector collaboration in the coffee value chain
● Regional perspectives from South and Southeast Asian origins
● The 2nd Coffee Cup of Distinction Awards
Delegates will also have opportunities to network, engage in market matching, and join a special
coffee cupping session.
This milestone event is made possible through the support of its sponsors: Land Bank of the
Philippines, Peace and Equity Foundation, Equilibrium Intertrade, UCC Coffee Philippines,
Kopiko, Alaska, and Silcafe.
