How durable and reliable are Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5?
Samsung’s latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 went through several high-pressure internal reliability tests where the newest devices were dropped, smashed, and submerged in water to ensure that Galaxy users get to experience reliable and durable devices as seen in this video. It showed how they can stand the test of time for any lifestyle, and meet the high standards of Galaxy users.
With the ability to withstand these rigorous internal tests, The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are more than just stylish devices. Before it reaches a user’s pocket, these devices are truly meticulously designed to be as tough as they are elegant.
The Folding Test
Samsung is building on its legacy of innovative design and craftsmanship, and its new foldables are living proof of this painstaking attention to detail. The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 are now more compact and more durable than before because of the all-new Flex Hinge that allows you to adjust it with extreme precision, reducing the device’s gap. The new feature was challenged by a rigorous folding test where a machine continuously folds and unfolds, and the devices are still good as new — showing a sleek display for your viewing pleasure.
The Drop Test, The Tumble Test, The S Pen Drawing Test, and The Steel Ball Drop Test
The 5th generation foldables are reaping the groundbreaking evolution of foldable technology. With relentless fine-tuning for durability, Samsung modified the display to complete your foldable experience by adding a shock-dispersion layer to the main screen– reinforcing the screen that is already using Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®2 to protect your new devices from external shock.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are also equipped with an armor aluminum frame for your peace of mind. In the laboratory, they stimulated common mishaps people face while using their phones– namely, the fumble and drop. A series of tests showed these devices dropping, tumbling and bouncing… and emerging with not a scratch on the body and screen. The S Pen even glides on smoothly – just added proof that the display sustained no damage.
The Water Resistance Test
For the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5’s next test, are these devices really water resistant? The laboratory not only sprayed fresh water all over the screens but submerged the devices in fresh water while it was playing a video. Impressively, the devices were still working with nary a glitch at the mercy of the fresh water, proving it truly deserved its IPX8[1] water resistance rating.
The Environmental Chamber Test
The final question is: can it stand the test of time and climate? Here is Samsung’s response. They placed the phones inside an environmental chamber where it stimulates extreme pressure and temperatures while playing videos. Throughout the test, the video continued to play, just as it was before being placed inside the chamber.
[1] Based on lab test conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Not advised for beach or pool use. Rinse residue/dry if wet. Water resistance of device is not permanent and may diminish over time because of normal wear and tear.
