In today’s music scene, pop may reign supreme but nothing beats classical music when it comes to longevity. Good thing The Angelos, an all-Filipino tenor group, was formed to promote the smooth sounds of this age-old genre while giving it a refreshing twist that even younger generations can enjoy.
The classical pop trio is composed of George Sison-Tagle (the group’s founder), John Louie Abaigar and Rei Paolo Libiran. George formed the group with their mentor, Director Freddie Santos, back in 2007. The name of the group, was also emerging , making the “voice of angels” a popular phrase to describe the group. They are Managed by Ms. Charo Garcia-Yu.
Just recently, performed at No Other Bar in Metrowalk in Ortigas, Pasig City. Their album, “Kung Ako na Lang Sana under Star Records carries eight tracks with one original composition titled The Calling. It also features classical-pop revivals of The Prayer, Lipad ng Pangarap, Paano Kita Pasasalamatan, Ano’ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa and Always You.
George is a former member of the Philippine Opera Company. John Louie was a finalist of GMA’s Pop superstar and a top contender of Star Struck Season 6. Si Rei Paolo Libiran naman ay (CEU), may alam din sa pag tugtog ng guitar, piano at drums. Nag co-compose din at magaling sumayaw ng hip-hop. Sumali siya sa Manila Vocal Ensemble noong 2009 at nag karoon ng 3month concert tour sa Switzerland.
