Reimagining Tomorrows at The Mind Museum’s Playtales

Yesterday, June 6, marks the official unveiling of Playtales: Reimagining Tomorrows at The Mind Museum in BGC, Taguig City.

This immersive exhibition is the latest joint project between The Mind Museum and NutriAsia, marking 14 years of a partnership rooted in science education and Filipino innovation.

The exhibition is built on the powerful core idea that the future of the Philippines is not predetermined, but is something to be shaped and built together with the next generation. Through mindfully designed environments, Playtales invites children and families to explore how cooperation and creativity can lead to a better world.

During our visit, we explored several imaginative zones that bring familiar aspects of Filipino life into a future-ready context:

  • Community Garden and Kitchen: This area features a bamboo zome structure inspired by the bahay kubo, where children can “harvest,” cook, and sell vegetables.
  • Eco-Essentials: We saw a reimagined sari-sari store of the future, constructed from recycled materials and bamboo6. It features playful reinterpretations of everyday NutriAsia products, making the concept of sustainability both relatable and fun.
  • Music Tower and Fishing Area: The journey continues through a bamboo Music Tower showcasing local instruments, and a Fishing Area that highlights the deep connection between people, water, and nature.
  • Mind S-Cool: This physical extension of the museum’s digital platform offers shadow play, reading nooks, and oversized storybooks to spark curiosity about biodiversity.

Maria Isabel Garcia, Managing Director and Curator of The Mind Museum, shared an inspiring perspective during the event, stating that “Playtales proves the soft but time-traveling power of imagination in wiring human minds”.

She emphasized that NutriAsia has been a strong ally in helping families “claim our own capacity to shape our shared futures”.

Playtales: Reimagining Tomorrows is now open at The Mind Museum and is designed specifically for families with children aged 5–10 years old.

The exhibition operates Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 am to 6 pm2. Tickets for a 1.5-hour time slot are priced at P300 for children (up to 10 years old), which includes one FREE adult companion.

It was an inspiring experience for TheNewsMakers to see how play can be used to actively create a vision for a better tomorrow.
