High school reunions are well anticipated events for every graduate especially those who had collected great memories during their stay in their respective schools.

If you’re a graduate of College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac (CHST), expect only the best activities in the upcoming Homecoming Silver Jubilarians led by the alumni of High School Batch 1994, carrying the “LAYAG: Ang Pagbabalik 2019.”

This alumni homecoming is slated on the 12th of January 2019 (2:00 pm) at the CHST Quadrangle and Gymnasium, San Sebastian Village in Tarlac City. This exciting event also come with the celebration of CHST’s 79th founding anniversary.

The motif of the festivities will be a reflection of the Holy Spirit’s purity and gentleness, symbolized by the use of a predominantly white color scheme and will also present the academe’s adoration for Original Filipino Music (OPM) which is why “LAYAG: Ang Pagbabalik 2019” is considered to be the perfect title to this unforgettable experience for the school which was established in 1940.

For the venue, it will be predominantly adorned with white-colored and beach-inspired decorations. Attendees will be serenated with songs and presented with dance performances that will journey to the evolution of OPM from the ‘60s up to the present times.

Indeed, it will be an afternoon of fun, entertainment, and a great time catching up with old friends, teachers, school personnel and new acquaintances.

What is considered to be the highlights of the celebration are the dance performances from the Silver Jubilarians (Class of 1994) and the Golden Jubilarians (Class of 1969) to hype up the recognition that will be given to the honoree classes: 1959, 1964, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014.  Also, a number of notable and inspiring CHST Alumni will given awards for their great achievements and contribution to society.

Plus, if there is a perfect chance to showcase the CHST’s newly-constructed, first educational eco-building in Tarlac, it will definitely during this grand homecoming. The said project will make the school as one of the best learning institutions in the region.

CHST’s spacious quadrangle will be a good place where the alumni and their guests can enjoy reminiscing good times at the breezy vibe of the yesteryears. There will be booths for food and merchandise, a corner for the digital and social media fanatics, surprises, raffle, and special performances from invited OPM artists.

Why LAYAG?

“Layag” or sails in the English language is a symbol of a journey, providing directions, steering in calm waters, and balance through stormy seas. It is a symbol of guidance, like the Holy Spirit, towards our destination, which the purpose of our homecoming also symbolizes us returning home (pagbabalik).

It is a symbol of remembering our beloved institution, the College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac — an institution that has molded us into becoming who we are. It is, therefore, a privilege and an honor to give back and pay homage to that one place where our dreams all began.

Why is there a slipper (tsinelas)?

The invitations given for the homecoming carried with it a slipper with the caption: “Hanapin ang Kapares, Magsuot ng Puti, Dalhin ang Pag-ibig sa Puso, Makisaya…”

It is because when we go home, the first thing that we usually look for is our slippers and because we see the homecoming as a “coming home,” wouldn’t be nice to be greeted with a new pair when we return? The first lucky 1, 000 who pre-registered will be getting it for free or will have the option to donate it, particularly to senior citizens, beneficiaries of Tarlac, who were carefully chosen in this Slipper Project.

With all the exciting events in store at the CHST White Grand Alumni Homecoming 2019 with an opportunity to give back to the community and share life’s blessing, the event has all the elements of becoming the most spectacular homecoming of the year!
